Overview
Epic Games and Psyonix approached We Are Royale to brand the latest installment / ultimate mashup with a fresh brand kit that would capture both games with a race-driven branding that can grow along with the game. The kit was to focus on car and track, so we developed a brand that would complement the vibrant visuals with a race-inspired graphic language that Epic games is known for. The following is a quick look at the overall work done by myself with the close collaboration of other designers and Epic Games in-house team.
Early Development // 1
Design Exploration
Early in the iteration process - the offical name was still in development - so we used a made up name - Redline and Overdrive to kick off the design phase. We had a lot of fun designing posters and general design to present to client to help inspire the continued development of the game.
Logo // 2
Working with talented brand designer J. Colins - we worked through numerous design iterations for the brand mark and logo for Rocket Racing. Since this IP was directly tied to another similar IP - Rocket League - there was a lot of discussion how different it should be. In the end, we worked closely with Epic to develop a logo that stands on its own but still fits in with the overall Rocket League/Fortnite world it existis within.

Bringing it Together
We found a balance of keeping the simplicity of Epics branding while combining it to the overal Fortnite branding language. Bold text, bold colors was the name of the game. We developed a light and dark mode for every piece that would be used in game, on website, social and other marketing materials.
